Exhaust air purification by catalytic afterburning

Catalytic afterburning is an alternative to thermal afterburning as it reduces operating costs by generating incidental energy. It offers the exhaust air cleaning at a low temperature.
Before catalysts can be used it is necessary to know which pollutants are involved. Some, like sulphur, heavy metals or silicones, can impair or damage the catalyst.

Catalytic afterburning is suitable for all operations that:

  • generate small to medium volumes of exhaust air (50 to 50,000m³/hr)
  • have medium to high concentrations of pollutants (0.5 to 20 g/m³)
  • work with discontinuous or continuous production lines

Benefits:

  • cleaning processes have low energy consumption
  • the residual energy can be used for hot water production
