Wellhead Safety Control Systems

The WHPS system as shown has been designed to operate gas production wells. Each well consisting out of a Surface Controlled Subsurface Safety Valve (SCSSV) and Surface Safety Valve (SSV).

The Hydraulic/pneumatic control well unit operates at three (3) pressure levels:
- Pressure level for the Surface Controlled Subsurface Safety Valves (SCSSV)
- Pressure level for the remaining valves (SSV) and
- 5.5 bars for pneumatic supply and the control pressure.

The pressure levels will be aligned to the particular pressure of the fields. There are two electrical driven pumps sets to achieve the pressure level for the remaining valves (SSV), and two intensifier sets to achieve the pressure level for the Surface Controlled Subsurface Safety Valves (SCSSV). There is one (1) additional hand pump installed for back-up power, in case of a power failure.

The hydraulic energy is stored in hydraulic accumulators, mounted in and outside the panel.

OPERATION AND INDICATION
Local control functions are located in and at the front of the hydraulic/pneumatic control well unit:
Manual "Pull to open / Push to close" button for opening/closing the SCSSV Valve
Manual "Pull to open / Push to close" button for opening/closing the SSV Valve

Local indication of trip and status signals:
Each pressure header has its own dedicated pressure gauge at the front of the wellhead panel (SSV header SCSSV header for pneumatic header pressure and fusible loop pressure). Each pressure gauges is selected in such way to show the approximately mid-range position e.g.

The remote control functions of the WHCP system
Closing of SSV by means of a solenoid

The SCSSV's and SSV needs manual reset on location in case of a remote shutdown (ESD). The SSV needs no manual reset in case of a remote well shut in.

Remote indication of trips and alarms provided:
Reservoir level – high/low
Low pressure header to start duty pump
High pressure header to stop pump
